Well equipped laboratory facilities are available in the major areas of Civil Engineering

  • Hydro-informatics Lab

An Advanced Surveying and Hydrology lab has been set up with in the existing infrastructure facilities for post graduate course in Water Resources and Hydro-informatics.

  • UG and PG thesis / project / seminar reports of previous years.

Seminar Hall

  • Seating capacity – 100.
  • Fully air conditioned.
  • State of the art video conferencing facility, LCD projector, PA system etc.

Wireless Internet Access

  • Uninterrupted internet access through wireless connectivity.
  • The bandwidth available for internet connectivity is 30 Mbps.

 Departmental Computing Facility

The departmental computing facility houses ample number of machines and reprographic facilities. Software packages available are

  • GIS Software- ArcGIS release 9.1 upgraded to release 10,
  • ERDAS IMAGINE.
  • KY PIPE.
  • Structural Analysis softwares -ETAB, STAAD pro., STRAP.
  • Mathematical simulation package MATLAB.
  • Finite Element Analysis package ABAQUS
  • Drafting Packages: AutoCAD.

Testing And Consultancy

Laboratory facilities of the department are being utilized to offer consultancy services to public. The various services offered include material testing, concrete mix design, water quality assessment etc.

Faculty members of the department also offers consultancy services in the following areas

  • Design / proof checking of structural systems
  • Water supply system design
  • Waste water disposal system design
  • Soil investigations and foundation designs
  • Traffic studies and pavement design

Faculty members of the department are appointed as experts in various technical committees constituted by the Govt. of Kerala as well as various district courts in arbitration cases.

Research Facilities

  • The department is an approved research centre of University of Calicut and Kerala Technological University.
  • AICTE approved QIP centre.
  • Graduate research programmes leading to M Tech and Ph.D.
  • Funded research with financial assistance from various agencies such as
    • Centre for Engineering Research and Development
    • TEQIP.
