Assistance to District Administration in Post Flood Rehabilitation Activities
Technical expertise of the department was extended to district administration for the post flood rehabilitation and landslide mitigation works. Under the leadership of Dr. Unnikrishnan (Professor and Geotechnical expert, Dept. of Civil Engineering) and Dr. Anto Francis (Asst. Professor in Geology, Dept. of Civil Engineering) faculty and under graduate students of the department visited the landslide hit areas of the district during August floods. Causes identified for the slides and remedies were suggested.

Dr. Ajit Achuthan, Associate Professor, Clarkson University, NY(Alumnus, Civil Engg, 1994) delivered a talk on “Residual Stress Evolution During Additive Manufacturing of Metallic part” on 9th August 2016. The talk was jointly organized by Alumni Association (B2C) and Civil Engg. Association. The talk opened up a whole new avenue of stress analysis in plastic flow during 3D printing.
