Proxy ’22

The Computer Science department and the alumni association of Government Engineering College Thrissur launched the beginning of a 3-day national competition PROXY on 28th October 2022, sponsored by Qburst and co-sponsored by KeyValue. 

The flagship event aspired to attract and enhance technical knowledge in students through various tasks and challenges. The college welcomed over 500+ registrations from various parts of India. The competition sought to find the most technically proficient team amongst participants, rewarding them with prize money worth 60k. The 10 teams who attended the event comprised of students belonging to the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Telengana.  The event became host to some exciting technical competitions.  Starting off, on 15th October, students were given the opportunity to attend a game development workshop conducted by Fares K, game developer of Tatvamasi Games. PROXY hosted a number of pre-events like Poster-making and Technical quizzes building anticipation in students across the country. On 28th October, the event started off with a 12-hour Reverse Ideathon, where participants were given the task of developing a game based on acquired knowledge. The next day, participants were challenged to an exciting and halloween-themed Treasure Hunt followed by a brain-teasing game of Capture The Flag. Bansuri, the musical band of Government Engineering College Thrissur, performed at the night of the first day, bringing color and unity, mesmerizing the audience with beautiful classical songs. On 30th October, the contest concluded with a closing ceremony in the company of Dr. Shibily Joseph, Head of Computer Science Department, Smt. Kala M T , assistant professor at GEC Thrissur, and Mr. Jayaraj Sankar, TecBang Banglore Alumni Chapter core member and program cordinator. The function awarded the winners title to Team XDev from Government Engineering College Thrissur. Team Bit Lords from Government Engineering College Thrissur bagged the second prize and Team Tech Creed from Nadar Saraswati College of Engineering Theni, Tamil Nadu baggedvthenthird position. Rishika Raveendran, Convenor of Proxy’22, wrapped up the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks. 

Participants gave their feedback of how exhilarating and lively the event had been this weekend. Students were thrilled in experiencing a new journey through the path of technology.
Proxy, the national tournament, will be held at Government Engineering College Thrissur, every year to celebrate the advancement of technology and promote technical skills in the upcoming youth.
