Department Mission

Faculty and Students of Chemical Engineering Department has participated in and organized the following programs in the department, during the period, March 2022 – March 2023

1. Visiting Faculty Programme

  1. Sheeja Krishnan, Infectious disease modeler, Public Health London, UK on Principles and application of System modelling in Public Health
  2. Sree ramachandran, Vice-President, Technical service, Reliance Industries Ltd, India on Advances in Refinery Operations
  3. Thomas Mathew, Former Vice President, Reliance Industries Limited, India (Currently working as Technical Advisor, RIL Ltd) on Petcoke gasification project

2. Activities of Chemical Engineering Association 

Inauguration of activities of the year and farewell to passed out students, Campus Cleaning, Dyuthi 2017, Sevens foot ball tournament , Sevens foot ball tournament Onam & Christmas celebration, and distribution of  certificate of merits.

3. Interaction of Students with outside world:

  2. World space week open innovation contest by ISRO- Srilekshmi M of 2017 admission bagged first prize.

4.  TEQIP Activities:

Trainings undergone by the faculties outside the institute using TEQIP fund, National Conference –ATCE 2013, Equipment Training on Rheometer, Visiting executive program under IIIC- TEQIP , Lab visit to IIT Madras, TEQIP Purchase, Lab maintenance using TEQIP fund

8. Entrepreneurship Development Forum:

EDC cell was inaugurated on Institution level by Trichur Dist. Collector, Dr. Jaya M S, IAS on 18th February 2014, at Chemical Engineering Seminar Hall.

9. Back To Classroom (B2C):

A talk was delivered by Francis. P. J , 1997 batch alumnus of the department and Lead Process Engineer, Shell Petroleum, United Kingdom on 30-07-2013 on the subject “Role of a Chemical Engineer in Oil and Gas   field” in the Department Seminar Hall.

10. IIChE Programmes:

Membership campaign

Intercollegiate quiz- Thrilogha 3-2-2018 sponsored by IIChE Kochi Regional chapter

11. Students Achievements:

Jacob Cherian P and Akash K A in Department of Chemical Engineering (7th Semester) of Government Engineering College Thrissur won first prize for Project Presentation conducted by NYCS and BPCL along with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, on World Biofuel Day (10th August 2017) at Palakkad.

Won Prizes in quiz competitions,  Arts & Sports

12.  Industrial visit to Chemtrols by faculty and M Tech students, Industrial Trainings Undergone by the Students and Visit to R&D department of FACT Ltd., Udyogamandal

 

13. Alumni Contributions

A new lab – Process Simulation lab is set up in the department with the help of Alumini contributions and a part of District Innovation fund.

16. Miscellaneous activities 

  • The Department is accredited by AICTE, ISO, TCS and Wipro.
  • 5 PhD students enrolled in the Department under the guidance of Dr. P A Solomon.
  • Mrs. Anjana R got an incentive of Rs 10,000 from CERD for publishing technical paper in international journal.
The department is actively engaged in research and consultancy works in areas like environmental pollution control, water and waste water analysis, energy auditing and management, polymeric and composite material processing, computer aided design, process simulation, process development / up gradation, testing and analysis etc. The consultancy works done by the department have won Kerala State Pollution Control Board award. The Department conducted the following DTE sponsored programmes in 2010:
  • Short term Course on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.
  • Workshop on Application of softwares for process simulation and equipment design.
  • National seminar on Health,Safety and Environment.
  • AICTE-INAE Visiting Professor program.

  Chemical Engineering Association
clip_image002_0000-(1)_03 The chemical engineering association is aimed at inculcating the spirit of teamwork and developing leadership qualities among the students. It organizes industrial visits and technical discussions and encourages students to take part in national level technical competitions.The Chemical Engineering Association organized genesis 2009 on march 2009, a national level technical meet in which students from various engineering colleges across the country actively participated. The paper presentation contest and different informal technical programs organized as part of genesis 2009 earned wide acclaim

clip_image004-(1)_03 The Entrepreneurship Development Forum gives the students an opportunity to understand the working and management of industries. It gives students the required training from the product development to the final marketing stage. The forum made 'socleen' detergent to be marketed in the campus.
