Human Resource Development Centre

 

 

Human Resource Development Centre is a support service, volunteered by the faculty of the college to help the students in their personal, social, emotional, educational and career development. The centre intends to equip the students with the necessary skills to resolve problems pertaining to educational accomplishments and provide exposure to a variety of issues and activities ranging from local to national significance, that will facilitate learning and improve academic achievement, improve inter & Intra personal relationships, help students in managing their emotions and resolve conflicts both personal and social. The centre proposes to conduct classes and activities on various topics mainly on values and ethics, creativity, leadership, communication & team work, social awareness, Life skills, Physical activities, sports etc.

The various facilities initiated by dedicated teachers of the college like Counseling & Guidance cell (constituted in the year 2005, Pain & Palliative care unit named Oasis (constituted in 2010) and the women’s cell of the college has been brought under the HRD Centre.

HRD Cell Activities 2022-23

1.Mrs. Sheela Raphael, Psychologist & Counsellor

Bachelor of Psychology (B.Psych), Basic Counselling Course (B.C.C), Master of Science in Counselling and Family Therapy (M.Sc C.F.T), M.Phil in Social Work (Medical and Psychiatry) The counselling service is available in the campus on every Wednesdays. Students who need help and support make use of this service for ensuring their psychological wellbeing.

2) HRD cell conducted the B.Tech first year induction program from 08-09-2023 to 15-09-2022.

3) A talk by Dr. Ali. M A (Former HOD, Dept of Computer Applications, Government Engineering College, Thrissur)  on the topic ‘Know Thyself’  on 06-12-2022 was conducted by the HRD Cell of GEC Thrissur for the third semester students of MCA

4) Talk by HRD Cell on the topic ‘Diversity in Gender ‘ Date: 8-12-2022, Time: 3.00 -4.30 pm Resource Person: Mr. Anil A, Member of State Transgender Justice Board, Kerala. 35 students and faculty members attended the session.

 

HRD Cell Activities 2021 – 22

  1. HRD cell conducted the B.Tech first year induction program (online mode- Zoom platform) from 25-10-2022 to 29-10-2022. The various topics were handled by eminent resource persons from the respective area. Also the activities of various associations and clubs in the institution were introduced by the respective faculty members in-charge.

  1. A talk by Mr. K Rajeev (Consultant Pysychologist, Government Engineering College, Thrissur) on the topic ‘Anxiety and Stress Management’  on 31-08-2022 was conducted by the HRD Cell of GEC Thrissur for the third semester students of MCA.

  1. As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, in association with International Women’s Day (8th March), HRD Cell along with Ladies staff club of Government Engineering College, Thrissur conducted an online talk and discussion on 8th March 2022 on the topic Women Entrepreneur – Challenges and Opportunities  by the eminent Entrepreneur, Mrs. Pinky Jayaprakash, CEO JPNME Pvt. Ltd and Developer of SKEDU,  the App build to understand the abilities and talents of children.  The session was conducted in Google meet and was available in Youtube (Live Streaming)   

  1. As per the direction from the university, the HRD cell of the institution in association with  MindX club conducted an online talk for the students of GEC Thrissur to ensure their psychological well being on 2-10-2021 on the topic Exploring the scopes in new normal life . The session was conducted in Google meet and was available in Youtube (Live Streaming) as well. Resource Person :  Dr Emarson V.P,  Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Psychology, Little Flower Institute of Social Sciences and Health, Calicut.

  1. An online talk by Prof. Parameswaran M (Rtd. Professor, Production Engineering)  on the topic ‘Dealing with Anxiety and Stress’ was conducted by the HRD Cell of GEC Thrissur for the tenth semester students of B.Arch on 04-06-2021

  1. In connection with International Women’s Day, (8th March) HRD Cell along with Ladies staff club conducted two online talks and discussion by two eminent personalities, Smt. A.S. Chandrakanta, Deputy Director, SITTTR (State Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training & Research)  and Smt. Lekha S (Women Protection Officer, Thrissur) on 8th March 2021.

  1. An online talk by Prof. Parameswaran M (Rtd. Professor, Production Engineering)  on the topic ‘Teacher-Student Relationship’ was conducted by the HRD Cell of GEC Thrissur for the faculty members of the college on 05-11-2020.
