Activities in the department

The Department conducts seminars, workshops and symposiums on a regular basis under the auspices of the Mechanical Engineering Association utilizing the services of experts and engineering professionals. The Association has been organizing the prestigious off Campus Event Thrissur Motor Show(TMS) for past several years arraying the projects and working models developed by the students, along with series of invited lectures & awareness programmes on Road safety, Better driving habits, Recent developments in Mechanical & Automobile Engg., Demonstrations & Competitions attracting people from far and wide, involving Automotive Companies and Dealers in Kerala. Celebrities like Narain Karthikeyan & Vikram Mathias have graced TMS with their a ugust presence. In addition, every year a new attraction like Robo Soccer & Miniature Aircraft Show captures the hearts of many. Now TMS has become a noteworthy land mark of our esteemed institution.

Every year the students and staff of ME dept. join hands for organising the three-day long National Technical Fiesta “Momentum” comprising of Technical Paper Presentation, Design Contests, Make Stuff Work, Technical Quiz&Debate, Informals, Exhibitions, Project Stalls etc.

With the help of the expert guidance from the faculty, the students of Mechanical Engg. have designed and developed Speed Limiter cum Fuel Saver for Heavy Vehicles, Automatic Side Stand Retractor for Bikes, Hand-operated Car steering system for Handicapped etc. which have captured the attention of the press & media.

The Placement wing of the Department in association with the college Placement Cell arrange facilities for conducting campus interviews and selection and requirement of students by reputed industrial organizations/companies. The department has qualified staff and laboratory setup and has been taking up projects and consultancy work relating to areas in Pressure testing of pipes, Refrigeration and air conditioning, Pressure gauge calibration, Fuel analysis, Energy management design, Biomedical engineering, Reliability engineering, Maintenance, Industrial engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Machinery and Management.
