SAFE awards of Rs.5000/- each awarded to 15 eligible students each of the 2011, 2012 ,2013 ,2014,2015 and 2016 Admissions.

The Golden Jubilee celebration of 1966 batch was celebrated in the college auditorium on 10th Januvary, 2016.

The Silver Jubilee of Graduation of 1991 batch was celebrated in the college on 14th August, 2016.

The open stage, renovated with the help of alumni association of GEC was inaugurated on 14^thFebruary and the stage was named as “Nadumuttam” (The Courtyard). The inaugural address was delivered by Dr.Vijaya Kumar, Director, Department of Technical Education, Kerala.

College was affiliated to the Kochi University for the Batches of 1976, 77 and 78 admissions. These batch mates have formed a group, TEC CUSAT and has decided to work together to support the college. The first project completed was renovation of the open stage at the main building. This was the place of many cultural activities during the college days of these batches. This stage was built in 1976, when the first batch of this group was admitted. The new stage and the open space in front was named ‘ Nadumuttam’. It was dedicated to the college on 14^th February 2016. The project is worth 14.5 lakhs.  

Launched  the programme“Networking of GECT Alumni”, which, aimed at mentoring students/alumni at various levels by linking with eminent alumni of GECT, under the leadership of Prof T Krishnakumar, Vice president, GECT Alumni.

The Alumni Association (H.Q) renovation and furnishing is being carried out with the financial support received from 1991 alumni batch. They are renovating Alumni office and other selected development activities of the institute. Renovation is under process.

The association achieved 80G certification from the Income Tax department. Under this, the contributions from the individuals will qualify for 50% exemption of tax for the donations, with effect from FY 2016-17.
