Department Mission

1. To provide quality education in the area of Electronics and Communication Engineering, for producing innovative and ethically driven professionals adept at dealing with a globally competitive environment, for the welfare of the nation.
2. To inculcate inquisitiveness in young graduates thereby persuading them to undertake research in emerging areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Government Engineering College Thrissur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) for providing handholding support and to promote entrepreneurship in the region. As per the MoU, the college will set up a Swavalamban Chair for MSME solutions under the project SAHAS (SIDBI Assistance for Harnessing Aspiring Swavalambis).

  • E-SPACE 2015 ,International Conference

espace1The Department organized its International Conference on the sub-theme ‘Electronics, Signal Processing and Communication Engineering (E-SPACE 2015)’ under the umbrella of ICETEST 2015 staring from 9 Dec 2015 to 11 Dec 2015. The conference aimed at bringing experts from academics, research, and industry in the fields of electronics, signal processing, and communication engineering to a common forum. The objective of this conference was to provide a platform for the innovative researchers to present their work, and to get assessed, motivated and guided by subject experts in the respective fields.(Read the report of e-space)

The ICETEST-2015 comprised of  seven constituent conferences ; held in the Departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering , Chemical  Engineering, Electronics  & Communication  Engineering,  Computer Science & Engineering and School of Architecture ,  in the thrust areas of the respective disciplines. There were  invited talks by experts and paper presentations by students and scholars from within the country and abroad.

  • VFS and Back To Classroom

Department conducts seminars and invited talks on various technical subjects under the Visiting Faculty Scheme (VFS) where eminent members of the faculty from other reputed institutes conduct classes to the students.

‘Back to Classroom’ is another such programme where members of Alumni are invited to deliver talks or to share their work experience to the students. It is also considered as a chance for the alumni to do a different role which they never would have done before, in the institute . Read More

  • Alumni Association Activities

The Department has a separate Alumni Association which regularly cooperates with the academic activities of the department by presenting technical talks to motivate the students and to give awareness about the current technological developments. Also they provide financial assistance for the technical activities. The department has a good library which is supported by the alumni. They contribute books and financial support for journals.
